A step by step guide
to supercharge your internet browsing speed!
Okay, so you might just be wondering - how do I get my lame ass internet speed to be a whole lot faster - Well as it happens you've landed at the right place!
So, lets get started, you've been in the slow lane way to long.
PS: This method works for DSL or Cable connections only.
Step 1 - Gathering Software.
You'll need all of the following software in order to make this method work. Skip the ones you already have.
- FireFox . If you have it, cool. If not, Get Firefox with Google Toolbar for better browsing.
- FireFox on its own does not render good browsing speed - It's at least better than IE though! Anyway, what you need here is FireTune - Click Here to get it. Keep it aside for a while, we'll come back to it soon.
- Third, you'll need SpeedGuide.net's SG TCP Optimizer. Click Here to get it.
- Now, you need Lvllord's Patch to increase the TCP connections (We'll get into this later). Click Here to get it.
Step 2 - Action Time.
Okay, so now I have all of this software. Where do I go from here .... Read on..
- Modifying your LAN Properties.
- Go to Start>Network Connections.
- Right Click>Properties on your main internet connection.
- Make the following changes: [Unselect everything except "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"]

- Running Lvllords Patch.
In WinXP SP 1, TCP connections were set to unlimited. However, Microsoft limited these connections to 10 in SP2. You can open more TCP connections and increase your speed using this patch.
- Extract the patch and run it:

- Press "C" to change the limit and set it to 100.

- Press "Y". After you do that, you'll be promted with a Windows XP message saying that your original files are being replaced and blah blah. Click "Ignore" or "Cancel" to that window, and press "Yes" after it asks for a confirmation.
- You'll get a message that your patch was successfully executed. Exit and reboot your computer. Don't forget to Bookmark this page (Hit CTRL+D) so you can return once you've rebooted.
- SG TCP Optimizer - using it!
Now your back continue on from here, this is where you use SpeedGuide's TCP Optimizer.
- This program modfies your system registry in order to boost your internet speed. Here's what you have to do:

- Choose your connection speed - mine is 256 kbps. Go down and select "Optimal Settings". Click on Apply changes after that. You'll be prompted with a box something like this after that:

- Click OK, and click "Yes" to reboot your computer. (Remember to Bookmark this page first if you haven't already done it).
- FireTune - Almost finished, this is the Final Step!
I'm assuming that you're already using FireFox.
- Install it. After installation, Click on "Create backup configuration" first.

- Next, choose the settings according to your needs and computer configuration. Be sure to check out the other two tabs viz. "Other Optimizations" & "Other useful settings" too.
- Click Tune It! (FireFox should be closed first).
Step 3 - Theres no step 3, this is where you get to enjoy it!
